Excess earwax can contribute to hearing loss. Common symptoms of too much earwax include pain, itchy ears, ringing ears or hearing loss.
Although earwax is good for you, too much can cause more complications later on.
It is important to avoid using cotton swabs to clean ear wax on your own at home they push ear wax deeper into your canal.
Removing excess earwax can be tricky, especially if it is hardened. Professionals often use irrigation and let water rinse out the excess wax. If this method fails, patients are encouraged to place a small drop of olive oil in their filled ear at night to allow the wax to soften and make its way out of the ear.
