Elizabeth Hart loves being a meteorologist! As a matter of fact, her love for wanting to report the weather started her career in television news.
After earning degrees in journalism and music, Elizabeth jumped right into local news in her hometown of Peoria, Ill. She earned her certification in broadcast meteorology and worked on-air in several television weather offices around the country.
Growing up in the wintry Midwest, Elizabeth longed for the warm Florida sunshine she and her family enjoyed on their yearly vacations. She finally got her chance to live in sunny Florida when she landed a job at WFOR, the CBS affiliate in Miami. After two years in hurricane central, she moved inland to Orlando.
When News 6 held open auditions for "The Morning News Traffic Reporter" more than 400 hundred hopefuls, including Elizabeth, came out for their shot to be on air. Elizabeth's sparkling personality stood out, and she was a perfect fit for our weather department.
She joined our News 6 family as a weather producer in June 2007 and made her on-air debut in November.
Elizabeth was recently promoted to News 6's full-time weekend evening meteorologist as well as fill-in meteorologist three days a week for Tom Sorrells and Troy Bridges.
In her free time, Elizabeth loves to travel and has been to many interesting places including Morocco, Turkey, Israel, New Zealand and Iceland.
She also loves to read, shop and exercise. Another favorite past time is playing scrabble. She hopes to one day be a competitor in the National Scrabble Championship.
