A woman walking on a road in Daytona Beach was struck by a car and killed, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash happened around 4:45 a.m. Friday on eastbound U.S. 92 at Interstate 4. Eastbound lanes of U.S. 92 were closed in the area but reopened at 8 a.m.
The name of the 47-year-old Hawthorne, Fla., woman has not been released.
The driver of the car stopped after the crash, and it's not known if charges will be filed.
Troopers said it's believed the woman's body was hit by two other vehicles, but the drivers did not stop.
An abandoned vehicle was found crashed into a guardrail on the exit ramp from I-4 to U.S. 92, and troopers were investigating whether it belonged to the victim.
