MELBOURNE, Fla. -

A 65-year-old Palm Bay man was killed Thursday morning in Melbourne when a car struck his motorcycle, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Roland Merritt died in the two-vehicle crash, which occurred around 7:40 a.m. on Wickham Road near Windsor Estates Drive.

According to the FHP, a 2005 four-door Toyota driven by 57-year-old Konah Denny, of Orlando, turned into the path of Merritt's 1986 Honda motorcycle.

Merritt, who was wearing a helmet, was ejected and died at the scene, troopers said.

The crash remains under investigation and charges are pending against Denny, who was not injured.
