Federal agents are searching a rental property in Orange County owned by State Rep. Linda Stewart on Wednesday afternoon.
The Metropolitan Bureau of Investigation and Homeland Security are investigating the home, located on Barcelona Street off of Gaston Foster Road.
Darrell Roby was arrested on federal weapons charges and about ten people were inside the home when the raid occurred, according to authorities.
Stewart said she has been renting the house to four people for four months now and they only paid rent once.
“Today, I learned that a search warrant was executed at a rental property owned by my husband and I," Stewart said in a statement. "After a period of lapsed rent by the residents, we began the legal process of eviction, going so far as to serve them with a notice to vacate earlier this month. Neither I nor any other member of my immediate family has been the subject of investigation in this matter. I am grateful for today’s swift action by law enforcement authorities. I appreciate their hard work, as well as the professionalism they have displayed throughout the investigation.”
A man who says he lives in the home tells Local 6 that he was invited to the house by Stewart's 34-year-old daughter, Amanda, who he says lives at the home.
"Amanda lives here, this is Amanda's home," the man told Local 6. "This isn't our home she invited us."
When Local 6 asked Stewart if her daughter lived in the house, she responded, "I would say she has been in that house for about four weeks."
Stewart showed Local 6 a notice that she served a renter who lives in the house on Feb. 13, telling them to pay the rent in full or vacate the property.
Neighbors tell Local 6 agents were at the neighborhood at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday. Local 6 news helicopter Sky 6 flew over the scene as spotted officers carrying a white box out of the house and luggage.
No other information was immediately available.
