Orange County shooting leaves pawn shop worker in critical condition

Man who worked at Latin American Pawn Shop in critical condition

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A man who worked at Latin American Pawn Shop on South Orange Blossom Trail near Orlando is in serious condition after deputies said someone shot him.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office said it looks like the shooting happened outside the shop.

"It sounded like 'Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom!'" a neighbor, who did not want to give his name, said. "It's scary, because this neighborhood's quiet, really quiet; also, the pawn shop on the corner, they are very nice and quiet people."

Deputies said they were initially called to a shooting around 7:15 p.m., just before closing time at the pawn shop. But when deputies arrived, they found evidence that appeared to show a robbery that went wrong.

Authorities said three men arrived at the pawn shop and argued with the employee before one of the men took out a gun and fired, hitting the worker several times.

The employee was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he remained in serious condition Sunday morning.

Authorities are looking for the shooter, plus a black sedan -- possibly a two-door Camaro.

Detectives are also reviewing surveillance video from the pawn shop that may have captured the shooting and the moments that led up to it.

Two people of interest are in custody. Detectives are trying to figure out if they were involved in the shooting.
