1 shot, killed in apartment parking lot

Orange County deputies are looking for two men after they say a man was shot and killed sitting in his car.

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -

Orange County deputies are investigating a fatal shooting that happened late Friday night in an apartment complex parking lot near University Boulevard and Goldenrod Road.

Deputies said they were called to the Sun Key Apartments at 4205 Long Key Lane around 11:34 p.m. Friday.

Deputies said when they got to the apartments, they found a 31-year-old man shot and killed in the parking lot. He has been identified as Jeffrey N. Carpenter, 31.

Deputies said the victim's girlfriend, they were inside the Sun Key Apartment complex waiting to meet a friend when they were approached by two black male suspects.

The victim was shot by one of the suspects who fled the scene in a dark colored vehicle, deputies said.

The suspects are described as two black males, one with lighter colored dreadlocks and the other possibly with short hair, deputies said.

Deputies said they do not have a motive.
