This week marks the one year anniversary of an unsolved murder, and Orlando police and the victim's family are asking for help.
J.R. Rodriguez, 43, was found lying face down in a pool of blood inside his home, right across the street from Boone High School in Nov. 2012.
"I would just like to know why, why?" said Shirley Van Glahn, Rodriguez's sister who found his body. "It's been horrible, my parents have really suffered a lot."
Van Glahn said her brother had been beaten and suffered cuts to his neck.
The last people to see Rodriguez alive were his parents, two local ministers who ate dinner with their son at their Ocoee home on Nov. 14. Rodriguez left their home around 5:30 that night to go to the gym and back to his house.
"We're grateful that at least we have that one day of him eating his last meal," said Van Glahn.
Days later when Van Glahn discovered his body, his leftovers were still sitting on the counter. She said there were no signs of forced entry and nothing appeared to be missing.
Van Glahn said her fun-loving brother grew up in Orlando, worked part-time at the Florida Mall, had no enemies, no bad relationships and just wanted to help people whenever he could. Now, his family is hoping someone will help them find his killer.
"We're always wanting and hoping and praying that there's something, I mean this happened in his house," said Van Glahn. "For him to be murdered in his house, it's scary."
