11 hurt when Lynx bus, vehicle crash in Orlando

Nearly a dozen people were injured in a crash involving a Lynx bus and a vehicle in Orlando, officials say.

ORLANDO, Fla. -

Nearly a dozen people were injured Friday morning in a crash involving a Lynx bus and a vehicle, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Troopers said the driver of a red Hyundai ran a red light and crashed into a Lynx bus carrying 17 people, including the driver, around 10:50 a.m. at Pershing Avenue and Reddit Road in Orlando.

Roberto Silva Tora, 41, of Orlando, the driver of the car, was taken to Florida Hospital East with minor injuries.

Nine bus passengers were taken to hospitals, but all suffered minor injuries, officials said.  The bus driver, Raymond Santos, 55, of Orlando, also suffered minor injuries.

Video from Local 6 News helicopter Sky 6 showed the side of the car smashed into the front of the bus.  Several passengers were removed from the bus and placed onto stretchers.
