ORANGE CITY, Fla. -

A 1-year-old girl was taken to the hospital on Wednesday after being hit by a car in Orange City, according to troopers.

Florida Highway Patrol said the accident occurred on Montrose Avenue Wednesday afternoon.

FHP said the mother was pulling into the driveway in the van, parked and unstrapped the child. As she went to let out the other children in the car, a friend pulling out of the driveway hit the girl.

The girl, who turned one years old on Tuesday, was airlifted to Arnold Palmer Hospital as a trauma alert.

Authorities say no criminal intent is suspected.
