Two juveniles were arrested on Wednesday after police say they stole a motorcycle from a Palm Bay home and then fled from police before being caught in Melbourne.
Palm Bay police spokeswoman Yvonne Martinez said a resident on Haddon Avenue called and reported a burglary in progress at a home next door, Local 6 news partner Florida Today reports.
Martinez said multiple suspects fled the residence in a stolen Dodge Intrepid and on a motorcycle taken from the home’s garage.
Police spotted the vehicle and followed. The motorcycle was found nearby and had apparently been ditched by one of the suspects.
Martinez said the Dodge was driving erratically and caused an uninvolved motorcyclist to crash on R.J. Conlon Boulevard. The suspect vehicle continued on, eventually crashing into some mailboxes and a home on Saxon Street in South Melbourne.
Four people ditched the car and fled, police said. Martinez said police found two of the suspects, who are juveniles, and are working to identify the other two.
The teens are accused of grand theft, burglary, resisting arrest, hit and run, among other charges.
The incident began about 1:15 p.m. Palm Bay and Melbourne police, as well as a Brevard County sheriff’s helicopter, searched for the suspects.
