Brevard County is making the grade tonight after having two schools being ranked among the best in the country.

A new U.S. News study released a report Wednesday ranking 21,000 high schools and two schools in Brevard County made the cut.

West Shore Junior-Senior High School in Melbourne ranked sixth in the state and 48th in the nation.

"When you have a group of high performing people that are committed to education from all of those groups, you're going to have the perfect recipe for success," said Rick Fleming, principal of West Shore.

Merritt Island's Edgewood Junior-Senior High School ranked 10th in the state and 93rd in the nation.

"You gotta give credit where credit's due and the staff at this school is just tremendous and it goes all the way down to support staff as well," said Dr. Kenneth Winn, principal of Edgewood. "So teachers, support staff, and community make this school what it is. "

Several other local schools were also recognized on the list.
