FHP: 2 hurt after car crashes into tree, splits in half

Florida Highway Patrol is investigating an overnight crash near the attractions in Orlando, injuring two people.


One person is in critical condition Friday morning after troopers say a car crashed into a tree and split the car into two pieces.

The crash occurred near the Marriott on International Drive at around 4 a.m. Friday.

FHP said Joshua Rivera, 26, was driving southbound on International Drive when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree, splitting the car into two pieces.

His passenger, Angela Aul, 24, is in critical condition at Orlando Regional Medical Center. Rivera suffered minor injuries.

Charges are pending against Rivera, troopers said.
