SANFORD, Fla. -

Sanford police are searching for the two masked men they say robbed a Hungry Howie's, holding employees at gunpoint and pulling one of the employees by the hair to get money out of the cash register.

Police said the men opened the back door of the restaurant on South French Avenue around 9:30 p.m. Monday and held the three workers at gunpoint, demanding they give them money.

One of the victims, the store manager, spoke with Local 6 about the robbery that turned brutally violent in just seconds. The 18-year-old didn't want Local 6 to use his name.

“When I realized they had guns, they threw one of my employees to the floor and the guy grabbed me by the shirt and pushed me around behind the counter and hit me the first time with the gun,” said the teen.

The man grabbed an estimated $1,200 from the drawer and left out of the back door, according to a police report.

One of the culprits was described as a Hispanic male, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, 140 pounds and was wearing a hooded red sweatshirt and blue jeans, police said. He was carrying a silver semi-automatic handgun.

The other man was described as a black male, 5 feet 9 inches tall, 200 pounds with a stocky build and a dark complexion, police said. The man was wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans and was carrying a black semiautomatic handgun.

“I hope they catch them, before it happens again, next time maybe people won't be so lucky,” the teen victim said.

The robbers are wanted on charges of robbery with a firearm, aggravated battery and aggravated assault.

Anyone with information about the robbery is urged to call Sanford police.
