3 masked gunmen sought in 'violent takeover' of Port Orange bank
Police in Port Orange are searching for three masked men who robbed a bank at gunpoint in what was described as a "violent takeover."
The armed robbery happened around 9 a.m. Thursday at the PNC Bank at 1090 Dunlawton Avenue.
According to Port Orange police, the assailants entered the bank and "conducted a violent takeover of the bank," striking an employee in the head with a gun.
The men ran from the bank after taking an undisclosed amount of money, police said.
The injured worker was treated at the scene.
Police described one of the assailants as about 5 feet 8 inches tall with an athletic build. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black denim baggy jeans, white sneakers, a black ski mask and black gloves. A red bandanna was partially exposed from his left front pocket.
Another culprit was described as about 5 feet 8 inches tall with an athletic build. He was wearing a black short-sleeved shirt, black denim jeans, dark sneakers, a black baseball hat with white writing on the front and a black cloth was covering his face. He was also carrying a black bag.
The third culprit was described as about 5 feet 10 inches tall with a thin, athletic build. He was wearing a black hooded long-sleeve sweatshirt, dark gray long cargo shorts, dark sneakers, a black ski mask and black gloves.
Anyone with information about the robbery is urged to call police.
