9-year-old bitten by shark in St. Augustine Beach

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -

A 9-year-old boy was bitten by a shark Sunday afternoon on St. Augustine Beach.

The boy was with friends just south of the Ocean Trace Beach Ramp when he was bitten.  The boy was throwing a cast net into the water around noon when the shark bit his left leg.

The shark was about 4 feet long.

The boy was treated at the scene by St. Johns County Fire Rescue, and his family took him to Flagler Hospital for stitches.
