With two weeks left until the November election, Facebook pages have seen a big increase in political posts. At times, those posts are tearing apart life-long friends, neighbors, and even families.

ORLANDO, Fla. -

With two weeks left until the November election, Facebook pages have seen a big increase in political posts. At times, those posts are tearing apart life-long friends, neighbors, even families.

Pati Howard, of College Park, used to become angry by all the attacks against Republicans, until she discovered the "hide" button.

"The story is now hidden from your news feed so I don't have to look at it anymore," said Howard.

Howard is not the only person who is no longer looking at cartoons, posts and comments contrary to their views.

Lee Kersey admitted on Local 6's Facebook page, "I have been unfriended. LOL"

Minutes later, she was called out by Tito Wilson who posted: "Lee Kersey, don't forget to tell how you unfriended me."

In fact, according to a recent Pew Research Center study, nearly 1 in 5 users have blocked, hidden or unfriended someone over politics.

Howard says she has not unfriended anyone, yet.

"No, but I've been tempted, I've been tempted," said Howard. "Just one too many nasty comments, but that was before I discovered hide."

If you're like Howard and you're tired of all the personal politicking, perhaps you can find some new friends on Facebook pages like "Keep Politics off of Facebook", or "No one wants to hear about your politics, especially on Facebook."

Another option may be what's known as "socialfixer." At www.socialfixer.com, you can download a browser add-on that allows you to filter out posts through keywords.

"We still have to be friends on November 7," said Howard. "Unless of course we have another Bush/Gore thing. Wait and see how nasty Facebook is then!"
