Brush fire ignites in Leesburg near homes

A more than 10-acre brush fire is burning in Leesburg and is affecting at least three homes, according to Lake County fire officials.

LEESBURG, Fla. -

Fire officials have put out a brush fire that ignited in Leesburg on Friday evening.

The fire ignited near County Road 452 and Emeralda Island Road and is fast spreading, according to officials. Parts of CR 452 and Emerelda Island Rd.  were shut down due to the fire, according to Lake County Sheriff's Office.

Local 6 news helicopter Sky 6 flew over the fire as officials battled the blaze burning through woods and moving closer to a nearby house.

Forestry officials said the fire was in a marsh and no evacuations were posted.
