DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -

Police arrested a 19-year-old woman who stabbed a man with a steak knife at least 9 times at a Christmas party after police say the man was making fun of her boyfriend.

Local 6 has confirmed Desiree Kleinow has been charged with attempted murder and is on mental health watch at the jail.

The 30-year-old victim, Josh Stonaker, told police he drank a lot of alcohol at the party at Reed Canal Road in South Daytona and that he was a "practical joker," and liked to poke fun at people." As the party continued, Stonaker said he became "heavily intoxicated" and persistent in making fun of Kleinow's boyfriend, according to police.

Kleinow stabbed Stonaker 9 times in the shoulder and neck with a steak knife with a 4 and a half inch blade as an apparent retaliation for her boyfriend. Stonaker suffered a cut on his neck and pierced his trachea, along with cuts to the chest and shoulder.

He was released from Halifax Health Medical Center on Tuesday. Kleinow is being held on no bond.
