Daytona Beach house destroyed by fire

A man and his two dogs are able to escape a house fire in Volusia County.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -

A man and his two dogs were able to escape a house fire early Wednesday in Volusia County.

The fire broke out at a house on San Jose Boulevard near Alabama Avenue in Daytona Beach.

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office said the man was inside the home when the fire started but was able to escape uninjured, sheriff's deputies said.

The home was destroyed in the blaze.

The man told Local 6 that he was sleeping when he heard a crackle and then smelled smoke.  He said he walked out the front door before the fire gutted his home.

The man said his two pit bulls were also OK.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.Fire April 3
