OCALA, Fla. -

Deputies in Marion County said they foiled a murder plot that would have left three people dead, but they're still worried the victims could still be in danger.

Undercover detectives arrested Dewey Mullins, 43, during an exchange on Tuesday in which deputies said they sold Mullins a Smith & Wesson 9mm semiautomatic handgun. During the sting operation, Mullins told deputies he planned to use the gun to kill three people.

Mullins is a three-time felon whose crimes include robbery with a firearm. Now, he's facing several charges, including possession of a firearm by a felon.

Deputies only discovered the alleged murder plot after getting a tip. Mullins told someone that he needed buy gun to give to another person in Orlando who wanted to kill several people. The tipster immediately called deputies, who set up the undercover gun buy.

Deputies believe they prevented the gun from getting in the wrong hands, however, it is still unknown who in Orlando wanted the gun, and nobody knows who could still be a target.

Authorities raised Mullins bond over concern for the safety of the potential victims in Orlando.
