Orange County deputies are investigating who set off a chemical bomb at an Orlando Kmart, causing the store to be evacuated.

ORLANDO, Fla. -

Orange County deputies are investigating who set off a chemical bomb at an Orlando Kmart Tuesday evening, causing the store to be evacuated.

Deputies said an explosion and smoke was reported inside the Big Kmart shoe department on Orange Blossom Trail and Sand Lake Road just after 8 p.m.

About 20 employees had to be removed from the store while authorities investigated, according to deputies.

Initial reports show that the OCSO hazardous materials team believe a chemical bomb was placed in the store. Bomb techs found a plastic bottle in the shoe department that they believe was the source of the explosion.

Deputies are investigating the incident with felony charges and are looking at surveillance video to determine suspects.

No other details were immediately available.
