Titusville's firefighters will be forced to take unpaid time off to help trim the budget.
The city's contribution to employee pension funds have nearly doubled since 2010, according to the city manager, and it is causing a budget crunch.
City manager Mark Ryan is asking all departments to reduce costs by 10 percent.
The fire department is apparently already short staffed so the furloughs will create the need to hire four new firefighters.
Firefighters will be sent home up to 24 hours a month.
