SANFORD, Fla. -

A hearing will be held in the case of George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watchman who shot and killed Trayvon Martin on Friday, according to court officials.

The hearing will be held Friday at 8:30 a.m., where Zimmerman's attorney Mark O'Mara will object to a subpoena issued on August 10 from assistant state attorney Bernie de la Rionda to the Altamonte Family Practice for Zimmerman's medical records, court records state.

In the objection, O'Mara writes that the information is "totally irrelevant to this matter" and that the state has released information to the public "without regard for relevance or privacy matters." O'Mara asks the court to quash the subpoena, according to court officials.

"We have agreed to review the records and voluntarily disclose what may be relevant," O'Mara wrote in a posting on GZLegalCase.com.

Zimmerman won't attend the hearing, according to court officials. He is charged with second-degree murder for 17-year-old Trayvon Martin's death during a February confrontation in a gated community in Sanford.

Zimmerman pleaded not guilty and says he acted in self-defense.

The lack of an arrest for 44 days led to protests around the nation.
