George Zimmerman's team asks for specific evidence
Attorneys for George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watchman who shot and killed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, have asked for all records held by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, FBI and Department of Justice involving Zimmerman's case.
According to the post on GZLegalCase.com, the Zimmerman defense team filed the "Demand for Specific Discovery" on Thursday requesting all the records "regarding the State of Florida vs. George Zimmerman or any related matters, including the investigation of the Sanford Police Department’s handling of the initial investigation."
The motion comes days after Attorney Mark O'Mara filed a motion to subpoena Martin's social media posts, school records and phone records. O'Mara also filed a Notice of Hearing on Monday for an Oct. 19 hearing at 1:30 p.m.
Zimmerman is charged with second-degree murder but is pleading not guilty. He is claiming self-defense.
The delay in Zimmerman's arrest led to nationwide protests.
