Girl Scouts tout Mango Creme as new, healthy cookie

Girl Scouts of America rolled out a new flavor of healthy cookies on Tuesday called "Mango Creme," which they say features more nutrients and vitamins than their other brands.

Described as a crunchy vanilla and coconut cookie with mango-flavored creme filling, its ingredients include "nutrients from natural whole food concentrate of cranberry, pomegranate, orange, grape, strawberry and shitake mushrooms," along with Nutrifusion™ and Vitamins A, C, D and E.

According to ABC Bakers, part of Interbake Foods and baker of Mango Crèmes with NutriFusion, said the move was initiated by consumers wanting to eat great-tasting cookies that also have health benefits. The new Mango Crèmes have 15 percent Recommended Daily Intake (RDI) of Vitamin B1 and 5 percent RDI of Vitamins A, C, D, E, and B6 per serving. Crème sandwich cookies are the largest retail cookie segment in the U.S., and making them better for you will make for great sales for this important fundraiser.

“We have been at the forefront of providing enhanced nutrition to the North American food industry and are delighted that ABC Bakers has partnered with GSUSA to introduce our proprietary blend into their great-tasting new Mango Crèmes Girl Scout Cookies,” said William Grand, CEO of NutriFusion, LLC in a release.
