Hockey masked-thief steals $40,000 from Krispy Kreme bookkeeper

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -

More than $40,000 in cash and checks was stolen from a 62-year-old doughnut shop bookkeeper in Daytona Beach by a man wearing a hockey-style mask, police said.

The woman was robbed around 3:45 p.m. Tuesday outside the Krispy Kreme at 980 W. International Speedway Boulevard.

According to Daytona Beach police, the woman was in her van in the parking lot of the store when a masked man reached across her and stole a bag containing $13,000 in cash and nearly $27,000 in checks.

The man then ran off and has not been located, police said.

The woman, who police said makes trips to the bank at about the same time every day, was not injured.

The woman was unable to provide a detailed description of the assailant.
