Osceola County deputies arrested a man on charges of child neglect after they say he left a friend's 2-year-old alone in his house, along with his two children.
According to Osceola police, deputies said Brian Byrd, 38, was arguing with his wife when she left their Granger Street residence, even though she was watching her friend's two-year-old child. Byrd told his wife he was not going to watch the child, deputies said. Also in the house were their two children ages 10 and 6.
Byrd began throwing all of his wife's personal belongings outside the residence, then he left the house with the children still inside, according to deputies. The children walked approximately a half mile to find their mother, who was at a friend's house before they all returned to the home, according to deputies. A short time later, the two-year-old's mother picked her up.
Byrd cooperated with the investigation and told deputies he left the children alone for a short time to go to the store.
The investigation is on-going with additional charges pending.
