LAKE NONA, Fla. -

Orange County deputies are searching for the two masked gunman who pistol-whipped two restaurant workers Sunday night during a robbery attempt.

The attacked happened around 10:30 p.m. at Cariera's Cucina Italiana off Narcoossee Road in the Lake Nona area.

Three employees were on break when the two assailants stormed inside the restaurant, deputies said.  Once inside, the masked men hit two of the worker on the head, authorities said.

One of the victims was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators said the gunmen then tried to open a safe, but when that didn't work they ran from the scene empty-handed.

Multiple units responded to the restaurant and searched for the culprits, investigators told Local 6.
