A girl is nearly kidnapped while walking near her Orlando school, according to deputies.

Orange County sheriff's deputies continue to search for a man who grabbed a girl walking near an Orlando high school into a wooded area and tried to kidnap her.

The incident happened around 7 a.m. on March 21 near Freedom High School.

According to the Orange County Sheriff's Office, the girl, a student at Freedom High whose age is not being released, was walking north on Woodway Drive toward the school when she was approached from behind by a man.

The man wrapped his arm around her and forced her into a nearby wooded area, but she was able to get away, deputies said.

The man ran toward a black or silver older model four-door sedan, deputies said.

The Sheriff's Office did not say if the girl was injured.

The culprit was only described as a white or Hispanic man with an average build.  He was wearing dark clothing, a hat and a hooded sweatshirt or jacket.

No other details have been released.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
