Well-known restaurateur Manuel Garcia was retrieving his newspaper outside his upscale Winter Springs home Monday morning when he was forced back inside by two masked gunmen who robbed him, according to police.

The robbery occurred around 6:30 a.m. at a home on Tuskawilla Trail near Tuskawilla Road.

According to Winter Springs police, two men wearing black clothing and masks stole about $350 in cash and jewelry from the home.

Garcia's wife calmly called 911 after the robbery.

"They said, 'Just follow me and everything's going to be alright.'  They wanted to know where our safe was. They wanted to know where our jewelry was," she said.

The couple was held at gunpoint in their bathroom while the men robbed them.

"We haven't been downstairs yet.  I'm afraid to go downstairs.  We locked ourselves in our bathroom in the bedroom," she said.

Police believe the men then ran away through the woods. Police say there may have been a getaway vehicle near Cherry Choke Drive.

Garcia and his wife were not injured in the incident, police said.

A detailed description of the assailants has not been released.
