Man shot dead in Sanford; 2 sought

A man dies after being shot in the chest multiple times in the front yard of a Sanford home.

SANFORD, Fla. -

A man was shot in the chest and killed Wednesday night in Sanford, and police continue to search for two assailants.

Marcus Killingsworth, 23, died in the shooting, which happened around 10 p.m. at a home in the 1100 block of 12th Street.

According to Sanford police, two men approached Killingsworth in an apparent robbery attempt and an altercation ensued.  One or both of the culprits shot Killingsworth multiple times, and he died while being taken to Central Florida Regional Hospital, police said.

No details about the shooters have been released.

Much of the neighborhood was blocked off with crime tape and several evidence markers were placed at the scene.
