Melbourne police are investigating a suspicious death after someone spotted the body of a woman lying on the floor of a home in a pool of blood.

MELBOURNE, Fla. -

Melbourne police ruled on Monday that the death of a woman who was found in a pool of blood inside her home is a homicide.

Police were called just after noon Friday to a residence in the 1400 block of Albert Drive to investigate a 911 call about a woman’s body in the home.

Police said the body was found by a friend who had arrived at the home to check on the 35-year-old woman, who police identified on Monday as Leah Yoresh. It's not clear if Yoresh knew the assailant.

The friend was able to peer into the home and spotted Yoresh's body on the floor.

Reports from the initial police response indicate signs of a struggle, and the rear sliding-glass door of the home was open.

A next-door neighbor said a man and woman lived at the home. She rarely saw the man but often saw the woman smoking on a back porch.

"They just really kept to themselves," Sabrina Kennedy said. "I never heard a peep out of them."
