A motorcyclist believed to be texting while driving is killed in two-vehicle crash in Windermere, according to officials.

A 40-year-old motorcyclist possibly texting while driving was killed in two-vehicle crash early Wednesday in Windermere, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Brendon Kelley Thomas, of Winter Garden, died in the crash, which happened around 1 a.m. near the intersection of Chase Road and Jack Nicklaus Parkway.

According to troopers, Thomas was riding around a curve and may have been using his phone when he veered into the path of an oncoming Honda Civic.

A witness told troopers that it appeared that Thomas had a phone in his left hand prior to the crash.

Troopers said they found a damaged phone next to Thomas, who was ejected from his Honda motorcycle and was later pronounced dead at the scene.  The FHP said it will continue to investigate if Thomas was on the phone at the time of the crash.

The driver of the other car, a Disney employee headed home from work, was not injured, troopers said.
