Police are searching for a man believed to have vanished after a fishing trip.

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. -

Police are searching for a man believed to have vanished after a fishing trip on Tuesday.

Bernardo Enrique Rubio Hernandez, 48, left his Apopka home around 5 a.m. to go fishing in New Smyrna. The family became worried and notified authorities after he didn't return home in the afternoon.

Cops believe he launched his 1989 14-foot white boat into the water after they found his vehicle and boat trailer at 170 N. Causeway.

Authorities searched the intercoastal waterway with helicopter and will continue the search today with the U.S. Coast Guard and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
