Hurricane Apps -- Download an application to your smartphone that can notify people where you are, and if you need help or are safe. The Red Cross has a Hurricane App available in the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store. A First Aid app is also available.

Three smart phone apps are debuting just in time for the 2012 holiday shopping season.

The apps could give bargain hunters an edge as consumers look for the best deals on Black Friday and beyond.

The SnipSnap app allows you to take a picture of a coupon on your smartphone and then use it in store for redemption. The company says you can search through thousands of coupons in a database to find other coupons “users have snipped and shared.”

The RedLaser app gives shoppers a perfect tool to find the best possible deals . The app scans UPCs on boxes in store then you can comparison-shop against online retailers. According to RedLaser some stores will “price match” online deals.

The third addition to the app world is something called Shopkick.

This app enables you to earn “kickbucks” redeemable for in-store gift cards just by walking into stores and scanning items.
