Manti Te'o, the star linebacker from Notre Dame, reportedly concocted a story about his girlfriend's death to gain fame and publicity.

According to the online investigative blog deadspin.com, Te'o's girlfriend, Lennay Marie Kekua, did not die this past September as reported widely by several national media outlets.

In fact, the publication claims that the woman never existed.

Writers Timothy Burke and Jack Dickey allege that Te'o and a friend by the name of Ronaiah Tuiasosopo fabricated the entire story by using another woman's Facebook photo and creating fake Twitter handles.
