An Orange County deputy's patrol car caught fire early Thursday as he was performing CPR on an unresponsive man.
The Orange County Sheriff's Office said they received the medical call just after 5 a.m. to a home on Highland Avenue.
When a deputy and firefighters arrived on scene they found a man inside the home who was not breathing and in cardiac arrest.
As the deputy performed CPR on the man, a firefighter noticed that a car had caught fire in front of the house.
It was quickly discovered that the car on fire was the deputy's patrol car. Firefighters, already on scene for the medical call, quickly extinguished the flames.
After the fire was out, damage could be seen on the passenger side of the car.
Deputies said that they were able to resuscitate the man who was then taken to a local hospital.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
