The Orlando Magic and Disney both announced Thursday donations that will be made for victims of Hurricane Sandy.
The Magic has donated $25,000 to the Red Cross, according to a press release from the team. Additionally, the Magic will record in-game player messages that recognize those impacted by the storm as well as raise awareness through player public service announcements, social media and the team’s website, orlandomagic.com, to encourage support of the Red Cross.
Disney announced a $2 million donation as well. Half of the donation will be given to the American Red Cross for immediate assistance, and the other $1 million will be designated for organizations working on rebuilding efforts, according to Disney. Public service announcements will also be run on ABC, ABC.com, ABCNews.com, Radio Disney and ESPN’s family of networks to encourage viewers to support Red Cross relief efforts. Disney Channel will also continue to air a PSA that helps families prepare for disasters and other emergencies.
