ORLANDO, Fla. -

This holiday season, pet owners are expected to spend $5 billion on gifts for their furry friends, according to the American Pet Owner's Association.

Woof Gang Orlando owner Kay Hodgson said she's seen about a 20 percent increase in daily sales since Thanksgiving.

She said her biggest sellers are the treats baked on site.

"Very simple ingredients, made with no sugar, salt or preservatives," Hodgson said.

Hodgson said her store specializes in functional, affordable items with the occasional novelty.  Toys are always big sellers, she said, but she also has some high-end items, such as Swarovski crystal collars and plush beds.

"The main people who buy for their pets are normally the people who don't have children, who just have dogs.  These are the people who go all out and they think outside the box, like instead of buying people cookies, they'll buy dog cookies for their neighbors," she said.

Hodgson told Local 6 that her average customer spends from $40 to $50  on pet gifts.
