ORLANDO, Fla. -

The search is continuing on Monday for the man who Orlando police say grabbed a 16-year-old girl and threatened her with a knife over the weekend.

The attack happened at around 11:45 p.m. on Friday at Pershing Avenue and Woodgate Boulevard, next to Ventura Elementary School.

Officers tell Local 6 the girl was walking on Pershing Avenue when a man jumped out, groped the girl's chest and held a knife to her throat. When he tried to pull her away, the girl elbowed the man and was able to escape and run away.

Police were unable to find the man when they showed up at the scene.

As of Saturday morning, detectives only knew that the attacker was a white man with a goatee between the ages of 20 and 30. Detectives were interviewing the victim to get a better description or possibly create a sketch of the man.

Officers say the girl was not hurt during the attack.

Residents in the area say it's a surprise the attack occurred in the neighborhood.

"Somebody had to see something because even if it happened at 1 in the night there's always traffic on his street," said parent Christian Alvarado.

Ventura Elementary School teacher Amber Smith says she's concerned for her students walking to school.

"Something could happen to one of them, a lot of them are walkers-they have to walk to and from," she said.
