TITUSVILLE, Fla. -

Titusville police are searching for three gunmen who burst into a woman's home and pistol-whipped her.

The home invasion happened early Saturday morning at the Village Square Condominiums on Harrison Street.

The three gunmen forced their way into a "vulnerable" 63-year-old woman's apartment, according to Titusville Detective Jeremy Gonzalez. Once inside, the men hit the woman over the head several times with their guns.

"To be completely honest, in this case, I'm not sure it could have been prevented," Detective Gonzalez said. "It was a sneak attack. She actually opened up her door just to put some garbage out and these guys just rushed their way in."

Detectives told Local 6 the woman had cuts to her head but is expected to be ok. They were "working multiple leads" early Saturday morning and encouraged people in the area to "be neighborly" and keep an eye out for their neighbors.
