A man is arrested in Marion County after leading deputies on a chase.

OCALA, Fla. -

A man was arrested Sunday night in Marion County after leading deputies on a chase.

Kenneth C. Cox was arrested on charges of fleeing and eluding, driving while intoxicated, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with a suspended license.

According to the Marion County Sheriff's Office, Cox was driving a red 2002 Chevrolet Blazer near Northwest 28th Street and Pine Avenue about 9 p.m. when a deputy tried to pull him over for an equipment violation.

Cox fled in his vehicle, however, and the deputy pursued him, with two other deputies later joining the chase, which reached speeds of 80 mph in a 45 mph zone, a sheriff's report said.

Using a pit maneuver, the deputies were able to force Cox to stop at County Road 326 and Baseline Road, where he was arrested and taken to the Marion County Jail.

No one was injured in the pursuit although three patrol cars received minor damage.

Deputies said a crack pipe was found in Cox's SUV.
