PORT ORANGE, Fla. -

Port Orange police released photos of the truck that they believe was involved in a drive-by shooting of a man, which police are investigating as a hate crime.

On Tuesday police released photos similar to what the suspect's truck looks like-- dark, late 80's, early 90's model Ford F-150 truck.

"There was no confrontation between either vehicle prior to the shooting, so there is no motive that we are aware of," Port Orange police chief Gerald Monahan
said Tuesday, prompting authorities to investigate the incident as a crime committed based on race.

Meanwhile, members of the Sikh Society of Central Florida are on edge as Kanwaljit Singh, 46, remains hospitalized after being shot in what police are now calling a hate crime.

"We are shocked to hear a member of our community could be facing a tragic incident very close to home," Navtej Singh Khalsa, a member of the temple said
Tuesday.

Singh was driving home from the convenience store he owns. His 13-year-old son was in the passenger seat as they drove across the Dunlawton Avenue bridge
Saturday just before midnight. Police say a truck pulled up and opened fire on the family.

Singh was critically shot twice. He son was not injured.

"The gentleman's son was visibly shaken by the event. He is just a teenager and coping the best he can," Singh Khalsa said.

Singh Khalsa said most people don't know about their religion and wants the community to better understand in hopes of preventing another crime committed
out of pure hate.

"It's always best to understand members of other faiths. If you don't understand it, ignorance doesn't get you any where," Singh Khalsa said.

Singh's condition is improving. He is now in serious but stable condition and is expected to pull through.
