LAKE MARY, Fla. -

A series of power outages affected more than 5,000 customers in Seminole County, according to Progress Energy.

The outages began around 7 a.m. Tuesday and affected residents in the area of Markham Woods Road in Heathrow and Lake Mary Boulevard in Lake Mary.  Also, traffic lights were not working at some intersections in the area.

The cause of the outages was related to an issue at a substation, officials said.
