'Identity Thief' calls Winter Park 'the worst place in America'

Melissa McCarthy's character Diana, lives in the so-called "worst place in America."

WINTER PARK, Fla. -

The latest comedy to hit theaters made a joke that hit home some local viewers.

"Identity Thief", starring Melissa McCarthy and Jason Bateman, called Winter Park the "worst place in America."

The joke was made during a scene when Bateman's character Sandy Patterson is fighting to get back his identity after it was stolen by  McCarthy's character, Diana, according to TheLMagazine. Bateman complains as he is forced to fly to McCarthy's hometown - Winter Park, Florida.

Though none of the movie's filming was done in Winter Park, the city was mentioned throughout the movie numerous times.

According to IMBD.com, The comedy brought in $36.6 million in its opening weekend.
