1971: The original Shamu, SeaWorld orca, dies at SeaWorld San Diego. She was the first orca to survive more than 13 months in captivity and the fourth ever captured. After her death, the name Shamu continued to be used in SeaWorld orca shows.

SeaWorld is looking to hire hundreds of seasonal workers at its hiring fair on Wednesday.

Park officials tell Local 6 the seasonal jobs "can last through the summer and holiday season." SeaWorld is looking to fill positions at all three of its local parks: SeaWorld Orlando, Discovery Cove and Aquatica.

The hiring fair will last from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the park's Human Resources Building, located at 6283 Sea Harbor Drive in Orlando.

SeaWorld hopes to hire workers for a number of positions, including:

  • Lifeguards
  • Culinary attendants
  • Park quality hosts
  • Games/vending hosts
  • Prep cooks

Park officials say the seasonal pay ranges from $8.04 to $9.50 per hour. Seasonal workers are eligible for park benefits, including free entry to SeaWorld and Aquatica as well as park tickets for friends and family.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old and must apply online before attending the hiring fair.
