In a unanimous approval by the Board of Trustees, the master plan to expand Seminole State College was approved on Monday.

As part of the more than $200 million expansion, eight new buildings will be constructed, some 15-floors high, with room for retail on ground levels and classrooms and labratories above.

Also. two new parking garages will added, creating 1,400 new parking spaces.

The 1.4 million acres of new space will triple the size of the current campus.  The new campus will focus on health care and nursing education.

Seminole State College will be looking for partnerships for teaching labs, a public health clinic, a wellness center and the performing arts.

There's no word on what retailers or hotels will be a part of the expansion.

Seminole State College board members say the cost will not be reflected through tuition hikes and funds will be raised through business partnerships.
