There are thousands of phone cases on the market claiming to be able to protect your phone. On Friday, two Louisiana men will begin shipping a phone case they claim can also protect lives.
The "Yellow Jacket" case features a stun gun with 650,000 volts of electricity flowing through its electrodes. The creators claim it has enough power to stop "an aggressive adult male."
To prevent users from injuring themselves, the case comes with a dual safety switch and a latch that covers the electrodes. The safety switch can be deactivated in less than two seconds when the stun gun is needed.
Co-founder Seth Froom says he came up with the idea for the Yellow Jacket case after a gunman stormed into his apartment and robbed him.
"Take the most common device a person carries -- their smartphone -- and combine it with a protective element," said Froom.
The Yellow Jacket costs $139.99 and is currently only offered for the iPhone 4. The creators are working on cases for the Samsung Galaxy S3 and iPhone 5.
According to the company's Twitter account, customers can begin ordering the case through the Yellow Jacket website on Friday.
