Tim Tebow will be presented with an award from Gov. Rick Scott.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -

Tim Tebow will be presented with the "Great Floridian" award, according to Gov. Rick Scott’s office.

On Friday, Scott will give the award to the former Florida Gator and Heisman Trophy winning quarterback at the Clubhouse at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, where Tebow will be hosting his annual golf tournament.

The "Great Floridian" recognizes “the outstanding achievements of men and women who have made significant contributions to the progress and welfare of Florida."

Two Floridians are chosen each year by the secretary of state from a list of nominees.

Tebow, currently a quarterback with the New York Jets, helped lead the Gators to two national championships.
